Insomniac Games deny responsibility for the Louisiana Monster picture.

Louisiana Hominid 550x412

Louisiana Hominid caught by Hunter's Camera. Maybe.

BERWICK, La (NBC33) An NBC 33 viewer claims to have caught an “alien-looking thing” on a deer cam. He chooses to remain anonymous but says the pic was taken on a reserve in Berwick near Morgan City. The viewer says the cam itself was busted when it was found, but the SIM card was still in it and so was this image:

The viewer claims this is NOT a hoax. NBC 33’s Tyler Gamble finds answers today. Watch NBC 33 News at 5 to see what he can find out.

Sound like rubbish? That has not stopped it from being plastered all over the news across the US, and indeed the world. The UK’s Daily Mail is convinced that it’s Spider-Man, continuing their proud tradition of being utterly wrong about everything.

Gee. Well if the anonymous viewer says it’s not a hoax, that should be good enough for everybody, right? No need to actually investigate any of the details.

It is said that this mystery hunter uploaded the picture to the website of Wildgame Innovations, a company specialising in track camera’s and deer attractants. That is certainly their logo on the picture. That logo is affixed to any of the user-submitted pictures on their website. Oddly though, I can find no mention of the monster picture on the website, or anything monster related at all. I have tried to get in contact with Wildgame Innovations to find out if they actually ever had anything to do with this picture, or whether the viewer just stuck their logo on it to make it look more authentic. I’ll report back if they get back to me.

Anyhows, to get to the thing that actually got me bothering to write a post on this:

There has been some reporting that it is a Resistance 3 viral after Insomniac Games tweeted:

Whoops… looks like one got out. If you see a Grim on the loose… please return to Insomniac Games, Burbank, CA

But a later tweet has stated that they were just joking. Unsurprisingly, only the first tweet has gotten any coverage.

I have some interest in cryptids (I’m an ecologist by training), and I’d have to say that I’m pretty sure this is a fake. The creature looks too smooth, for starters (I’m assuming it’s made of flesh and blood. If it’s some sort of ghost/demon/killer robot all bets are off.). Then again, I don’t like to totally rule anything out without evidence. Chances are it’s a viral for…something. If not Resistance, than for some upcoming horror film. Or maybe it was just some very free worldwide advertising for a certain purveyor of deer attractants.

If you’ve not yet had your fill of terrifying monsters, you could check out our investigations into Horseboy or The Creepy Gnome.

Update: I just noticed. The timestamp on the picture is entirely different between the still I’ve got and the one used in the video. The still picture is from the 11/30/2010, while the one in the video is 12/04/2010. I find it very hard to think of any legitimate reason why this would be the case.

Oh NBC News how I love you.

The picture looks interesting. do these cameras take photos at set times? or is it like a film? I would like to see more. the one thing that puzzles me the most is how its looking at the camera.. I think I would belive it more if it wasn’t.

    • I gather that they’re motion sensitive.

I went through every picture on the Wildgame Innovations website, looking for either the monster pic, or one that looked like it might have been used to make it. There were a lot of deer pics, and many of them are looking right at the camera. My guess is that they hear the camera go in to action.

In the case of the monster, I suspect that it’s just looking into the camera because it’s scarier that way!

  • Is that supposed to be a professional news programme?

    • It’s the original local Louisiana NBC affiliate station that the story was first aired on before it went around the US and world. Local stations tend to be a bit rough around the edges.

Simple truth, if this was real, and in Louisiana, somebody would already have it in a gumbo…

@ arkenor. I hunt alot. I’m out most of the time and of course I use a camera trap. most take a series of pictures. Usually in groups of three or five. It’s possible that this creature had somehow managed to set off the trap and that’s how you have the picture of this. And if you look at his right arm….on the left if your looking at it, you can see that it’s arm is located behind a small bush. But what’s interesting is that you can see the arm through the open gaps. not saying the pic can’t be a hoax but I find it very unlikely that someone would take time for such small detail. I can’t explain the two different dates on the picture. Now as someone who spends alot of time in the woods I sure hope that this thing doesn’t exist. The very idea of this creature gives me a shiver.

alright. I reread that and it sounded stupid Lol. the camera traps motion sensors are very sensitive. Often you have a blank picture before you get a picture of something. What I meant to say was that he set it off and by the time the second picture was taken the creature was on it’s way over to investigate. But I seriously hope it’s a hoax

I also have trouble believing someone would destroy the camera. Wild-game innovations makes good trail cams that aren’t cheap, I also don’t believe this photo has been shopped. and the eyes we can see on the beast or whatever it is aren’t human. in order to glow white like that eyes must contain The layer of tapetum lucidum which humans do not. Meaning a persons eyes would have been only left red by the flash. I think that the feature COULD be real.

very true. I’m not saying it’s real. But where better for a skinless creature to thrive but Louisiana. a state that is always warm and not very populated

  • Farmboy

I use the same game camera and that logo is automatically on all the pictures taken on theese amazing cameras

  • we have had many players come here during Kobe’s tenure. D12 is in fact the only significant player who &#g022;mi8ht” not want to come perhaps due to Kobe. CP3 did not seem to upset for the 1 day he was coming here. In fact he was pretty upset at the veto if I remember. The main issue we have is cap space. Star players do no come for the MLE. As rr stated – it is about money and we do not have any due to our cap situation. We can only change significantly by trading.
