In which I Agree (as usual) with Optimus Prime

I’ve been feeling a little low as so many of my friends are brimming with excitement over World of Warcraft’s Cataclysm expansion that is coming out in the next few hours. I’m not particularly jealous of the game itself, but that “Night Before Christmas” feeling is something I haven’t really felt about a game or expansion release in a while. Am I getting old and jaded beyond repair, I wonder?

But then I look at Optimus Prime dressed as Father […]

New EQ2 Player Race is Vampires. Seriously.

An interesting announcement on EQ2Players website today:

‘Tis the season for giving! Winter is here and there are only a few short months until the freezing tundra of Velious is open for exploration. Starting in December and ending in February, active EQII Live subscribers and EQ2X Gold and Platinum members (with accounts in good standing) who purchase the upcoming EverQuest ® II Destiny of Veliousâ„¢ expansion will receive a set of in-game items as complimentary subscription rewards each month.

In which Batman and Commissioner Gordon Set a Poor Example

I’ve been having a rummage through some of my old comics for suitably Christmasy bits to clip. This one is from the issue 6 of the UK’s Batman Monthly in 1989. Clearly it’s from before Gotham enacted its workplace smoking laws.

Perhaps Batman could form a Superteam with Nick O’Teen!

In which I go Christmas shopping and meet Santa!

Originally posted December 19th, 2007.

So, I head into Norwich to do some Christmas shopping, and who should I meet?

It’s Santa! Not just any Santa, but Playmobil’s Santa! Doesn’t he look cheery as he shills for some other Santa’s grotto? To be honest, I think he looks a bit uncomfortable, but I suppose he has to pay for all those holidays in Tahiti somehow. Luckily I met him again after his shift.

There now, he’s much happier! […]

Ark’s Ark Visitor Browser Usage Stats

Just for fun (or what counts as fun to web-based folks like myself) I thought it might be interesting to post this little bit of data regarding the browsers people used to visit this site. They’re a fair bit different to the ratios shown appearing in Steam’s newly released hardware survey, though of course they have a rather larger sample size! Compared with the Steam sample, we have rather less Firefox, and a lot more Chrome going on.

I’m impressed […]

Pirates of the Burning Sea goes Free To Play

Ahoy!! It has been a while since I last sailed the Burning Sea, but I popped in today to see how things are coming along. I could certainly use some Caribbean sun after the snowy week we’ve had in the UK.

Of all the Arkenors in all the worlds, POTBS Arkenor is the best dressed.

Yesterday, Pirates of the Burning Sea became Free To Play. The set up is similar to other games which have travelled the same […]

Videopost: Minecraft, Day 16 – The Finding of Snow

After rather a long break, I continue my search for that most precious of Minecraft substances. Snow! Well, it was precious on this map at any rate!
